I just sent the following letter to my Congressional Representatives regarding Elon Musk’s unlawful access to the Treasury’s Payment Systems—a breach that opens the door to private taxpayer information, including Social Security numbers.
If this is what the first three weeks of this presidency look like, we cannot afford to sit back and let it happen for four years. Our personal data, our democracy, and the integrity of our government are at stake.
I urge you to take action. Copy the letter below and send it to your representatives in Congress. Make your voice heard—before it’s too late.
Dear Representative…Dear Senator
I write to express my deep concern regarding recent reports that a non-governmental body, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, has gained access to sensitive Treasury payment systems. This breach of protocol and disregard for institutional oversight is unacceptable.
As my elected representative, I ask you:
1. By what authority, and under whose security clearance, has DOGE been granted access to the Treasury payment system?
2. What measures are being taken to safeguard my personal information from unauthorized exposure?
3. How does Congress plan to ensure that government institutions remain accountable to the American people rather than a select few with undue influence?
Furthermore, I want to make clear that I do not approve of this breach of privacy, nor of the broader pattern of governance that prioritizes loyalty over lawful, democratic processes. It is worth remembering that Donald Trump secured only 49.8% of the popular vote in 2024. A presidency—especially one that did not win the majority of Americans’ votes—does not grant the right to govern exclusively for one political faction. It is imperative that our government remains accountable to all Americans, not just those who align with a particular ideology or political party.
I urge you to take immediate action to investigate and address this concerning breach of public trust. I look forward to your response on this critical issue.
Sincerely,
Your Name,
Address, etc.
