Dr. Amina Gautier is a celebrated author of four award-winning short story collections, including At-Risk and Now We Will Be Happy. Her works have garnered prestigious accolades like the Flannery O’Connor Award and the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction. Gautier is a prolific writer who has published more than 150 stories in esteemed literary journals such as AGNI and Glimmer Train. She is a fiction writer and a scholar of 19th Century American Literature, focusing critically on authors like Charles W. Chesnutt and Walt Whitman. A graduate of Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania, she has taught creative writing at several universities, including the University of Miami. Raised in Brooklyn with African-American and Puerto Rican heritage, Gautier is actively involved in various professional organizations, including the NAACP. She divides her time between Miami and Chicago when she’s not teaching or writing. Gautier is a vibrant voice in contemporary literature, blending her scholarly insight with creative flair.
